Cyclist Floyd Landis Fesses To PEDs, Accuses Lance Armstrong

Floyd Landis can attribute his pro cycling success to hard work, synthetic testosterone, HGH, gonadotropin, erythropoietin and other banned substances. He also had frequent blood transfusions. The cycling world knew this back in 2006 when Landis was stripped of his Tour de France title, but Landis admitted it only recently, reports USA Today. Landis told the New York Times that his PED days began when he joined the U.S. Postal cycling team in 2002. Then the disgraced cyclist made a point of accusing previous U.S. Postal cycling team leader and champion of the sport, Lance Armstrong, of doping during his run of seven Tour de France victories.

Floyd Landis is disingenuous, to say the least

USA Today indicates that Floyd Landis has been very candid in a recent series of e-mails to cycling officials. When his comments to ESPN indicated he wanted to supposedly do the right thing, his action comes across like sour grapes. Landis admits no feelings of guilt over doping, claiming that everyone was doing it and it was necessary to be competitive. Take the PEDs or depend on unsecured personal loans may have been his altogether skewed manner of thinking. Yet Lance Armstrong was able to compete on the highest level and pass his drug tests. That little gem didn’t even give Floyd Landis pause.

Lance Armstrong has yet to respond to accusations

This despite numerous damning comments in Floyd Landis’s e-mails, writes the Wall Street Journal. Landis claims that Johan Bruyneel, a manager for the team, turned him on to steroid patches, blood doping and HGH. Other names are mentioned in Landis’ e-mails, but an ongoing federal investigation has kept them secret. Landis also points the finger at U.S. cycling teammates David Zabriskie, Levi Leipheimer and George Hincapie. Floyd Landis has no hard documentation to corroborate his claims, though.

What do you think about cycling? Does Floyd Landis have any credibility here?
